English TV Program Selection in Hamburg Hotels
It has been three months now that I have been travelling around Europe with nothing more than a backpack and a sense of adventure by my side. I have had some great times, and some less than great times. I started my trip from England and then made my way down to France via Amsterdam. I spent a lot of time travelling around the French countryside, picking up a little fruit picking work when I needed it, which is back breaking and pays very little in case you were wondering. France was a fantastic experience overall however, and I met some great people in the many hostels along the way where I stayed for a night or two.
You meet a lot of people when you travel alone and this is definitely one of the benefits of solo travel, although I would not recommend it to everyone. The fellow travellers that I have met along the way can be split into two camps; those who thought I was crazy for travelling alone and couldn't understand why, and those who thought it was a romantic idea that summed up the very definition of the word freedom. It must be said that the second camp were far smaller than the first, as most people seemed scared stiff by the idea of solo traveling and the loneliness that it can bring. I am in Germany now, and so tired that I feel like I could sleep for days. It wont be long now though that I will lying in a comfortable bed, watching TV and drifting off to sleep, dreaming about Car Lease. I'm going to treat myself for a few days and avoid the kind of cheap backpacker hostels that I have mainly been staying in. All I am thinking about now is a nice cup of tea, a TV to watch and a big soft bed to get lost in.
Hamburg Hauptbahnhof station - I am here already, nothing like the Germans for ultra fast and efficient transportation. This city is completely new to me, but I have thought ahead and booked a great hotel Hamburg where a room is waiting for me. I have been spending a lot of time online during this trip, catching up with friends and family back in England, and one exhausted evening online about a week ago I booked the hotel room in Hamburg that I am on my way to now. I found a website called zleep.de, and this is where I am going tomorrow, my oasis for a few days.
While I am sure they will have a bed waiting for me, and pretty sure that I can get a nice hot cup of tea as well, one thing has been worrying me on the train ride here. Can you get English TV from a Hamburg hotel or will I have to unwind while watching something that I can't even understand? I guess I will just have to wait and see. I think that you can get Sky TV in Germany and they will have at least some English programs to view, but I'm not sure about any other providers. It's funny really, I don't normally even watch that much TV, but I am craving it now. I think when you are so far away from home, that TV acts kind of like a comfort blanket to you, familiar faces and names from programs that you know so well. I hope that the hotel I am going to has an English TV program selection, I really really do.
